What is counselling?
Counselling is where two or more people come together to talk about an issue or issues that are causing concern. Each person’s experience will be different. Telling a stranger about your innermost feelings can be daunting. We will devise a plan that will help you to achieve your goals.
What might I expect during my first counselling session with you?
I want to get to know you and your situation better. I will ask you some questions. During this time, we will discuss your expectations and goals for the session(s) and work together on a plan as to how to meet those goals. I believe that you will leave the first session with a renewed hope for moving forward.
Is Counselling & Psychotherapy confidential?
The privacy of your personal information is something I take very seriously. This includes all forms of communication and documentation. I will not disclose any information about you without your permission (preferably in writing). We will speak in more detail about confidentiality in our first session. However, like all things in life, there may be some exceptions, and those may include:
• When disclosure is required to prevent clear and imminent danger to you or others.
• When legal requirements demand that confidential material be revealed.
• When a child is in need of protection.
How long is each Counselling session?
Each session is 60 minutes long. I offer an initial consultation (usually on the phone) which will give you the opportunity to discuss where you are at, ask any questions you may have, and determine whether you think working with me will be a good fit for you.
I offer sessions in person, over the phone, or zoom video. The number of sessions will largely depend on your goals.
